PLEIN AIR is a French term for sketching/painting outside on location. These activities are part of the Bakersfield Art Association.
Anyone interested in PLEIN AIR is invited to participate.

Materials: Sketching/painting supplies, a chair, easel, sun screen, water, snack, hat, jacket or vest, TV tray and umbrella (both are optional).ts !
If it is cold or raining, plan to sit in your car and sketch or paint.
March 6 at 9 a.m.: Guild House corner, 1905 18th Street,
Mason Lodge, 1920 18th Street, and the Greyhound Bus Station, 1820 18th Street. Think cityscape.

March 14: Time Change, Yeah!
March 20 at 9:00 a.m. Red Church, Norris School at the Kern County Museum, 3802 Chester Avenue.
The artists will enter the property at an open gate on the north side, drive to the church in the south west corner, unload supplies, park in the parking lot on the east side of the big school. You may paint any building close to the church. Check in with Charlotte White. There is a $10.00 museum admission fee, collected by Charlotte White
March 27 and 28: Road Trip to Morro Bay.
Some artists will drive over on Friday afternoon
March 27: Breakfast on your own. Some artists will sketch/paint in the morning.
At noon, we have the option of ordering take-out at the Harbor Hut and pull our chairs into a circle for a picnic. We will sketch/paint on the wharf until 5:00 p.m. We have the choice of going to dinner together or not. Topics: the wharf, boats, fishermen, Morro Rock, building in the area.
March 28: Breakfast on your own.
At 9:00 a.m., we will meet at the State Park Marina (south of Morro Bay) near the Bayside Café. We should be able to purchase a take-out lunch at the café and pull our chairs into a circle for a picnic. We will sketch/paint in that area for the day. Some artists will be returning to Bakersfield at 3:00 p.m. Topics: sailboats, trees, the café, kayaks.
Artists are responsible for their own transportation, motel reservations and meals. Some artists will be carpooling.
April 3 at 9:00 a.m. : Mill Creek Park/ Bridge, beside the Bakersfield Museum of Art, 1930 R Street.
April 17 at 9:00 a.m.: Kern County Museum, Occidental Street/Aera Way, the street where the Bank building is located. You may sketch/paint buildings other than the bank. The artists will enter the property at an open gate on the north side, drive to the bank, unload supplies, park in the parking lot on the east side of the big school. You may paint any building in that general area. Check in with Charlotte White. $10.00 museum admission payable to Charlotte White.
