Bakersfield Art Association is happy to announce that artist David Gordon will be the featured artist for the month of MAY.
In this Kern County Collection, David uses atmospheric perspective to show the vastness of Kern County.
David says, “Kern is huge, and its air quality, as bad as it can be, makes for great landscape paintings. It makes “place”, and it is “place.” It, Kern’s atmosphere, is as much the subject matter as any shed, structure, or road I might paint. It tells us how far we have to go without looking at a map.”
The title of David show is “Home Territory.”
David Gordon is a third generation Kern County native with a bachelor’s in arts and applied design from San Diego State University and a master’s in landscape architecture from North Carolina State University. Besides twenty-five years of landscape design, Gordon has been the assistant director of the Bakersfield Museum of Art followed by seven years as the Executive Director of the Arts Council of Kern where he began the Kern County Plein Air Festival.
Currently, Gordon is the Managing Partner of Bird Dog Arts, an 11,000 sqft gallery representing over 140 California artists.
Gordon’s also an accomplished painter specializing in California landscapes depicting gritty scenes, often adding brightness and drama to his pieces.
He lives in Ventura, California with his two dogs, Sassy and Dexter.
