☕️Janeen Carter Smith’s art will be displayed at Dagny’s coffee shop through the month of February. Dagny’s is located at 1600 20th Street in Bakersfield.
As a retired Art/English teacher, Janeen had been doing ART in one form another all her life. Winning a blue ribbon at the Kern County fair at age 12 spurred her onto a lifelong journey in art.
Although she started in the very traditional art manner, she later adopted a looser, freer, fluid approach to seeing her surroundings. Now vibrant color and texture are the star of the show. She thinks of this impressionistic style as a personal, visual language reacting to the things she sees around her. She is expressing her reaction emotionally, in vibrant color, to the beauty of nature.
