NORMA EATON

 Description   Norma Eaton is a collage artist with a passion for beautiful landscapes.  She works primarily in collage with papers she paints herself using a variety of techniques and textures to create realistic and fanciful landscapes.  She then cuts out shapes from these painted papers and glues them to a surface with clear permanent acrylic gel medium.   Her art can be seen at the BAA Art Center and on her Facebook art page at https://m.facebook.com/normacollageartist.   Norma Eaton has a unique style of collage landscape art.  She depicts natural beauty with papers she has painted herself with unusual and beautiful textures and colors.  Her specialty is what she calls "smoosh paper".   She drizzles several colors on one sheet of paper, places another sheet on top and "smooshes" the colors together creating fluid looking textures suitable for use as rivers, skies and much more.  Over time she has invented many other unique textures for bark, fir trees, rocks, cliffs, whatever is needed to create beautiful scenery.  She works from photos in her studio and on location, which she prefers.  Norma has training in commercial art in Oregon.  She moved to California in 2008.She began working in collage about 2004 to relieve her frustration with watercolor.  She immediately liked it finding it perfectly fit her skill set and mind set.  When working in collage you HAVE to work with shapes and think in layers.  Choosing from colorful papers has forced her out of her timidity about using bright color.  Her works are all varnished with UV protection. No glass is needed to frame so you can enjoy the art in any light.  She gives presentations on her technique and teaches classes or workshops.
