Robert Ross is the solo Artist at Dagny’s Coffee Shop for the month of May, 2023
When Robert Ross, was a young man of 13 years, he was mentored by Ed Moody who was a retired forest ranger and keen observer of his surroundings. Together they trekked all over Kern County from the upper Kern River, Lake Isabella, various hot springs, and waterfalls. Ed taught Bob how to connect with his surroundings, and often quoted John Muir as they walked and observed the natural world.
Robert was born in Bakersfield, California studied art with Clayton Rippy, Al Naso, Shirlee Leonard, and Darlene Ostercamp.
He is a graphic artist and art instructor at Home Educator’s Resource Center for the last 10 years.
His artwork is on display at the Bakersfield Art Association Art Center and Gallery. I am a current member and administrator of Oil Painters Guild of Bakersfield Face Book group.
Robert said “I am an impressionist by style and expressionist by nature and the sheer force of brush strokes, and impressionistic style of soft rolls of color lets the viewer feel the landscape without all the detail.”
Clayton Rippy said “The strength of your strokes or your mark making is everything. Make your marks with confidence.”
Robert’s work can be viewed at Dagny’s Coffee shop located at
1600 20th street through the month of May
