Wendy Johnson is a muralist and artist from Bakersfield, California, whose work is deeply inspired by the natural world and the landscapes of the Central Valley. Her art reflects a love of sunlight, native plants, and organic forms, blending bold color with a sense of calm and connection to the earth. Circles often appear throughout her work, symbolizing the repetition and honor that go into the creative process—each layer and movement reflecting dedication, rhythm, and intention. Through her murals, Wendy transforms public spaces into reflections of harmony and belonging, inviting viewers to slow down and reconnect with the world around them.
Her recent public art projects, including large-scale murals for CalTrans and the City of Bakersfield, were supported by grants from the Arts Council of Kern, the California Arts Council, California State Parks, and Parks California. Wendy’s work has been exhibited at Bird Dog Arts and the Bakersfield Art Association. Grounded in her roots and inspired by the beauty around her, Wendy continues to create art that uplifts and celebrates the natural rhythms of life.
